Kaiser Permanente members have complex needs that extend far beyond the walls of our exam rooms. These “life needs,” or the social, behavioral, and environmental determinants of health, were a topic of CMI’s 2014 Annual Meeting, where it debuted a photo essay called “The Lives of Our Members.”
This project serves to illustrate the effects that social circumstances might have on the health and lives of our members and prompts us to ask: What is Kaiser Permanente’s role in handling life needs outside of the exam room?
